1. GO TO A RISE CONFERENCE
I have 100% spoken about her on my blog before but, one of my biggest inspirations in my life is Rachel Hollis. I love what she stands for and can’t help but feel incredibly motivated. I WOULD die for the chance to be able to attend one of her RISE conferences in person. When she came to Toronto in March, I had a huge work commitment that I couldn’t get out of, and with the state of the world right now I don’t know when I’ll get to see her next. BUT – Rachel is hosting an online conference on May 2nd, and I have signed up for that! If there’s any other Rachel Hollis fans out there, and want to get a ticket to her online conference, check it out HERE.
2. WRITE A BOOK
I’ve been a storyteller for a long as I can remember, I’ve always had a very wild imagination and have been narrating my own life and the lives around me even to this day. One of my dreams is to have a book published. I have been writing a lot lately, and I think I finally have an idea that I can roll with and I am SO excited about it.
3. START A PODCAST
Over the last year or so I think I really started getting into podcasts and finally found a great rotation of about 5 -7 different podcasts I listen to. I am not entirely sure what exactly my own podcast would be about but I have a few ideas I would love to see grow into something. Plus I talk a lot…so it seems like a natural fit. HA.
4. BUY A HOUSE
This one is kind of VERY out there, but I don’t think it’s impossible. I live at home with my parents and I really don’t think that renting in Toronto makes much sense for me because my commute into work is not a long one. I also own a car, so getting to where I need to be is relatively easy for me. I am basically saving up in hopes that I can buy something in the next 6 years, and MANIFESTING the heck out of it.
5. OWN A GOLDEN RETRIEVER
I love dogs. I’ve only ever had one dog in my life, but if I could be gifted a Golden Retriever for my 30th birthday that would be the most ideal situation EVER. I just love golden retrievers since watching every single Air Bud when I was younger. They are the cutest dogs, and you can hug them and sleep on them and I just really REALLY want this one to happen FOR ME. PLEASE. MEREDITH I KNOW YOU’RE READING THIS PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN.
6. LIVE IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY FOR AT LEAST A YEAR
I’ve been in love with London, England for as long as I can remember. It’s a dream of mine to move there for at least a year. Toronto will always be home but there’s just something about Europe…
7. GROW MY BUSINESS
I want this so badly. I want to own my own business and work for myself more than anything else.
8. LEARN AT LEAST 5 SIGNATURE MEALS
OKAY. I mean, I feel like it’s about time I learned to cook a meal that’s more than a seafood pasta, or fajitas. I think it’s so important to know at least 5 recipes that you can go to when you’re in a crunch. One of them definitely has to be a bread, of some sorts – I love a good easy banana bread recipe. And the rest need to be dishes that are easy enough you can’t mess them up, too dramatically, but also impressive enough that people know you spent longer than 30 mins on it. If you have any recommendations – LET ME KNOW.
9. LEARN SIGN LANGUAGE
I just think this is an important skill to have. How many people do you know who can speak sign language? Why not be that person that does, that might one day be able to help someone! Plus – it’s also a great activity to learn during quarantine.
10. START A VEGETABLE GARDEN
One of my most favourite things to dream about is my future home. With that future home comes a vegetable garden. I just picture myself walking my golden retriever one day, and on our way back from our walk, we stop at my vegetable garden and I pick up my cherry tomatoes and bell peppers. From my VERY, own yard. From my vegetable garden. Come on, guys – what on earth is more exciting than that !
11. RUN A HALF MARATHON
This is on my list becasue I really want to set myself a goal that is physically scary for me. I don’t think it’s impossible, I do think that it’s going to take a lot of work for me to get there – but I know I can do it.
12. VOLUNTEER REGULARLY
I always try really hard to go to a soup kitchen at least once a year and help out, but I think now, more than ever I need to make more of an effort to volunteer more frequently. It is so easy to lose sight of what is important in life sometimes, life get’s busy it’s the best excuse in the book. But if this quarantine has taught me on important lessons it’s that we need to take more care of each other.
13. ATTEND A WORLD YOUTH DAY
This has been on my bucket list for a very long time now. For those who don’t know what world youth day is, it’s organized by the Catholic Church for all the youth of the world. In 2022 the world youth day will be taking place in Lisbon, Portugal. Fingers crossed the world will be back to normal by then.
14. COOK A TURKEY
I just feel like this is important to know – you know?
15. HOST A THEMED PARTY
Ugh I just want to be that person that throws great themed house parties when I am older. Growing up my parents have always had friends and family in our house, I don’t ever remember going long periods of time without our house filled with people. I hope that when I am older I can carry that on, I hope that I have a home that feels like home for everyone – with some pretty incredible parties, of course.
16. BE ENGAGED
Now, I feel like it’s never good to put pressure on yourself to find someone, but I would like to be at least engaged by the time I’m 30. I have never been the person who wanted to get married young, sometimes I question wether marriage is even in the equation for me, but if and when I do get engaged I want to be in my late 20’s. There’s just so much I want to do before then and I want to make sure I am the person I need to be before that stage of my life begins.
17. GO TO KENYA
For anyone who knows me they know that this place is probably my number one bucket list destination. It’s where my parents grew up, and whenever they speak about it, it sounds like an absolute dream – some made up land. I feel a very strong tie to this place, and I want to be able to visit it before I turn 30.
18. UNDERSTAND POLITICS
Okay, look me in the eyes and tell me that you 100% understand politics. I dare you. I don’t think I know very many people my age that do. I think this is super important to take time to understand, they don’t teach you nearly enough of this in school.
19. MASTER THE ART OF PIZZA MAKING
If I could Amazon Prime a Wood Oven Stove for my house, I would have by now. I want to learn how to make the perfect pizza from scratch, I can’t tell you how many times a day I think about mozzarella and basil on a pizza…..
20. SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS
This one is one of my mom’s bucket list adventures. If I could find a way that we could experience this together I would take it in a heart beat.
21. RIDE A MOTORCYCLE
Notice how I didn’t say, drive a motorcycle, I don’t trust myself to drive on of those things BUT if there happened to be a bike, with a person on it willing to take me for a ride I WANT TO DO IT.
22. IMPROVE MY MINDSET
This is always going to be on every single list I ever make. This is always going to be something that I can improve on. My mindset is something that I work on every single day of my life and something that I am so committed to improving for as long as I live.
23. DECIDE WHERE I STAND ON CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS
I have a good idea of where I stand on the topics that effect me – like most people, but I want to be sure of where I stand on topics that effect the world. I have always believed it’s better to stand for something than fall for anything.
24. READ MORE CLASSIC NOVELS
There’s something so beautiful and timeless about reading, and I really hope that people take this time to read more. Around mid last year I got super into the Bronte sisters, and spiralled into reading more and more classic novels. I have so many more on my list that I can’t wait to read !
25. EAT CLEANER
I never realized until recently how important moving your body for at least 30 mins a day, and eating cleaner foods effects you mentally. I know – I sound SO STUPID for realizing this now, but hey – better late than never. I have recently cut out some dairy from my diet and I feel a world of difference.
26. WATCH MORE SUNSETS
There’s nothing more cleansing for the soul that a sunset in the summer with your best friends eating ice cream by the lake. Nights like these are my favourite memories. Sunsets are kind of like a free show, they’re reflective and exciting and – easy. Watch more sunsets.
27. TRAVEL TO AT LEAST 30 COUNTRIES
I love to travel, wandering the streets of a foreign country is one of the most exciting things to do – in my opinion. I have been so lucky to have traveled so much in my 24 years – from India, to the US, Amsterdam to Florence I have been so incredibly lucky to experience so many different countries and cultures. If I could travel to 30 different countries before I turn 30…the DREAM.
28. ATTEND A MURDER MYSTERY EVENING
Okay, I love and escape room, I love the board game clue so what’s more exciting than A LIVE MURDER MYSTER EVENING WITH ACTORS AND COSTUMES – getting way to excited but this is something I’d love to do.
29. LEARN TO PADDLE BOARD
It looks really freaking cool. I want to look cool. This is purely for my ego. I just really want to be the person, who is really good at paddle boarding. That’s really it.
30. MEET ELLEN DEGENERES
Not sure how, or where or when. But I want this. So I’ll leave the rest to the Universe.
What is on your 30 before 30 list?
